Horden 2-2 Birtley

Team: Andy Mal, jak, Keggs, G, bailer (Scott Wallace), Matt, Ryan, Dan smith, Ben J, clarky (Phil) and Luke (skiddy).

2 points dropped for me, the goals we conceded were poor, malinson at fault for the 1st and poor challenge for the pen to gift horden the draw. They missed a superb chance early on when the kid skied over from 6 yards. We went in at HT 1-0 down and despite creating a few good chances, particularly thru Ben who looked bright down the left and Dan in the middle.

2nd half was only 3 minutes old when Luke Wilson fell awkwardly with no one else close and an ambulance had to be called. Game was stopped for about 40 mins. Lads from Horden were great about us not wanting to move him and showed great willingness to help and respect which is what footy should be about at this level.

Once the game got going again, we stepped up a gear and dominated for 20 mins or so, scoring thru Bailer header from a great Ben Johnson set piece, and then Clarky rounded the keeper only to hit the post with the goal gaping. Then a good finish from young Phil who had only been introduced moments early for the quiet Clark. We missed another great chance when a superb ball in from the otherwise quiet Matt was hit at the keeper from 6 yards by Phil when it looked easier to score.

We were then punished when a poor challenge in the box led to a penalty for horden that was well converted by Marty O'Riorden. Ben missed another good chance near the end when he went thru and the keeper saved well.

Man of the match for me was Dan Smith who was superb, he's turning into a real player and just needs to add a bit more consistency to his game. Thought Scotty G looked very good centre half as well and Skiddy was bright when introduced. At least we're not losing these games and we go into Tuesdays game with a bit of confidence and nothing to lose.

He text me yesterday and said he had torn all of the ligaments in his foot/ankle, minimum of 8 weeks.
Shame at anytime but since he signed he has been very good.
Hope he's fit soon
