I am currently researching the circumstances of a John Thomas Trebilcock, who was a policeman living in Pears Terrace, in the 1960s, being awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal, whilst serving with 617(Dambusters) Squadron, on that fateful raid in 1943. Do any of you know how I can make contact with his son Phillip please?

Malvern, I cannot help with your question, but I use http://www.london-gazette.co.uk in family tree research.

A wartime medal, especially one as "high profile" as this would no doubt be reported. In fact, a quick Google shows it was reported 25th September 1945

His death may also be found using something like http://www.findmypast.co.uk (Let me know if you need me to search on that, I have a subscription)

Good luck in your endeavours.

Ally, I appreciate that post and have sent you a p.m.
Also thankyou to Joe Peers,Paul Mulley and the other good people who contacted me. There is something sadly amiss when a bravery award of this nature, together with a Military Cross awarded to a fella called Blackman of Shildon(6th Battalion D.L.I.) are forgotten in the mists of time. These blokes actions and deeds should be told to our kids and shouted from the rooftops.
