Who remembers the old white railway carriage tea hut in Rowlands corner at Dean Street and Jackie Rowland watching the matches from his bedroom window or two young Shildon lads selling programmes outside Dean Street for 2 pence a go. Whatever happened to Snack's wooden kiosk to the entrance to the stand and more importantly his sense of humour and the wooden benches where we sat watching our heroes. It's quite ironic that this season we were fortunate to get to replay the Ashington game due to a mix up over international clearance yet in 71/72 we got to and won the Durham Challenge Cup final despite "losing" the semi to Horden 2-0 . The Curly Wurlies played an ineligible player and we were given the tie. If that hadn't happened I would have missed out on seeing my team win the first trophy in my lifetime. I still can't believe I saw Andy Gordon score a Patrick in a replay away to Ormskirk who ironically changed their name a few seasons later to a well known Stout
