I remember starting following my Shildon heroes in the late 60s early 70s。Great playets like Tommy Holden,Alan Wegg,Colin Temple,George Elliot and Brian Dale come to mind. Andy Gordons hat trick at Ormskirk and of course the Durham Challenge Cup final games when I saw my team pick up the first trophy in my life time. But for two remarkable events that cup final win may not have happened. We actually lost the semi final against Horden Curly Wurlies but got to the final as they were disqualified afer playing an ineligible player. Also Tommy Holden got to play for us in the first game of the final although he had been transferred to Willington. Over 40 years since that memorable win I was lucky enough to see a new generation of kids look up to a new team of heroes from their home town and witness us win the trophy last year. This season our team is so close to attaining more silverware which would be a fitting end to our 125 Anniversary and 75 years since our last 1st Division League Success. It may be the 2nd oldest league in the world but in my opinion it is the greatest league in the land with supporters of our clubs who are second to none

:D My own memories go back to around the same time. "Ard Snack", on guard at the main stand, Bill Aisbitt tending his pitch, the tea hut by the main gate. Alan Wegg, Dennis Sawyer , Weeks, Smailes, Cox, Phil Brumwell at fullback ! Happy days !
