Sunderland West End 3-2 Rutherford

A very sloppy and dubious penalty was the difference between the two sides as we fell at the quarter final to a team undoubtedly favourites.

A number of drop outs and no shows was quite simply out of order and not the best preparation for Mick and this forced him to make changes to his side. So it was probably no surprise that we started slowly and went behind on 6 minutes.

However, we plugged away and a great run from Fibon Nyadu won a penalty that was smashed in. Half time 1-1.

2nd half we looked more comfortable although the West End no.11 was causing us all sorts of problems - easily the best opposition player I've seen this season. Then West End took full advantage of a mis-judgement to take the lead of 56 mins.

Dan Fullen equalised 3 mins later though as a deep free kick was dropped in by the keeper before the no.9 was sent off for 2 daft yellows. The first was for something off the ball but as he argued on he was shown a 2nd. Both yellows within 20 seconds.

West End then took the lead for the 3rd time as a very soft penalty was awarded. Some would say it was clever, I would say it was a con, but it was scored and that's how it ended.

Overall there was a few points to take home:
1. No shows hurt everyone. If you're not coming then be a man and ring.
2. Our defence has been superb, we actually defended really well yet we're disappointed with all 3 of their goals.
3. The lads on the pitch our a real shift in and that's appreciated by all of us.

So overall we leave a competition we wanted to advance in and wish all teams left in the best of luck.

And finally, have a great Christmas and all the best for 2018.
