Another return to league action as Ashington visit Farnacres this Saturday.

The Colliers are sitting in 5th place in the league and have picked up 5 league wins in a row. However, their last outing was a 2-3 defeat to the hands of Prudhoe YCFC in the Bill Gardner Cup.

We are also picking up good form with 3 wins and a draw from our last 4 games. Last week our cup game was settled on penalties as we made it to the quarter finals of the George Dobbins League Cup.

Kick off is 2pm and entry is free. There will also be opportunities to go on our £250 Christmas Draw.

Rutherford 2-2 Ashington Colliers

We fought back from 0-2 down to grab a last minute equaliser to preserve our unbeaten run.

We had a number of players unavailable through work but put on a spirited display that got it's rewards in the end. Ashington took the lead on 13 minutes as their left winger found Dunn inside the 6 yard box and he used his strength to roll the ball home. The lead was then doubled on 41 minutes as Tottle slipped when taking a goal kick and as we attempted to redeem it, their no10 was presented with a easy task of making it 0-2.

We never dropped though as created some good chances, then Dylan Howourth expertly chipped home to reduce the score to 1-2 right on the mark of half-time.

Early in the 2nd half Ashington were then reduced to 10 for violent conduct and they then hung on to protect their lead. We pushed and pushed and never gave up creating - Dan Fullen had an effort saved and Darren Leighton-Winder's header hit the side netting. But the reward came when Davie Chambers was fouled inside the box and Dylan Howourth smashed the ball home for the 90th minute equaliser. This was virtually the last kick of the game.

Overall a pleasing comeback that extends our league record to just 1 defeat since the opening week of the season - that's 10 league games now. The effort from our lads was again very pleasing as Ashington are a good side. On the downside our influential defender Sam Hodgson twisted his knee badly whilst making an excellent block so we hope it's not too serious.

Next up is a Durham Trophy Quarter Final against Sunderland West End next Saturday.
