Next away game for us is to the International Stadium to play Gateshead's 2nd string.

Gateshead were Division 1 champions last year but have found life tough in the Premier Division so far. However, I think we all now what they could be capable of so they will pick up points soon no doubt.

We have picked up 4 points from our last two games and therefore look to continue our form and put a run together.

Kick off is 2:30pm and this is a fantastic opportunity to come along and support our lads.

Gateshead A 0-2 Rutherford

A very accomplished performance on a hot afternoon at the International Stadium saw us pick up our 2nd away win of the season.

The first half was again very even but Charlie Lamb was in fine form and was our main threat early on. The first goal came on 25 mins as Callum Moore chased a ball over the top and as the keeper rushed out, they collided but Dan Fullen was there to sweep the ball home. Unfortunately the keeper had to leave the pitch 5 minutes afterwards.

At half time there was more concern for the keeper as an ambulance was called and this meant a 45 minute delay to the start of the 2nd half.

When we did get underway, Gateshead played really well with neat passing but our defence was superb. We blocked every effort they had and then Aiden King doubled our lead. A free-kick was returned into the box and Aiden was there to flick it home.

On 86 mins it should have been 3-0 as Zak Atkinson was hauled down by the last defender but after the red card was shown, the referee awarded a free-kick despite the foul being well within the goal area. But overall this didn;t affect a strong performance by us. Our thoughts are also with the young goalkeeper who's game was ended prematurely and we wish him a speedy recovery.
