Rutherford 7-0 Northbank Carlisle

A good finish to an indifferent season as we thrashed the visitors in our biggest win of the season.

The game was scheduled for a 6:30pm kick off to allow the visitors more travelling time, but by 6:48pm they were still in the changing room and had only one player on the park. We eventually got going at 6:57pm and this delay affected the quality of the game.

In fact, it took 28 minutes for something to happen. Neither side were putting more than 2 passes together and neither had an effort on goal, but then the first shot came from the home side and was stopped on the line by the hand of the away defender. After the red card Sam Hodgson easily scored the penalty. We added a 2nd on 43 minutes through Cossar.

2nd half was slightly better but it wasn't until the 60 minute mark where we really started to make the extra man count, and therefore the goals came. Dan Fullen tapped in after great wing work from Ricky Tanoh, substitute Andy Hall came off the bench and bagged a brace and Alex White scored a cracking free-kick for 6-0. Then Tanoh curled into the top corner for 7-0. It was nothing more than what we deserved for the wanting to see the game out, although it took a while to get going. The visitors gave up somewhat and it was disappointing for the visiting keeper to treat the game as a joke, but we wish them well as they regroup.
