Wallington make the trip to Farnacres this Saturday as we enter the final stretch of the season.

This could well be one of the oldest non-league fixtures in the region as Wallington celebrate 140 years of football this year, and we do the same in 2018.

The reverse fixture was only a handful of games ago as we recorded an impressive 3-0 win at the Scots Gap. However, Wallington have recovered from that and gained a 1-0 victory in their last outing against Shankhouse.

We also won our last game with a strong 4-2 victory at Ashington, so with both teams looking towards building on their victories, it could be a cracker!

Kick off is 2:30pm and all are welcome

Rutherford 1-1 Wallington

A very decent and even game that I feel deserved to finish all square. The first half ended 0-0 with very few chances although Wallington will have hoped their forward had better composure when a mistake gifted him a chance. Fortunately for us, he rushed his shot and hit the base of the post before going wide.

2nd half was more open and we scored first through Ricky Tanoah. Good work down the right allowed Ricky to find space, turn his marker before firing in across the keeper. At the other end, Wallington were a threat from corners and had two efforts headed off the line. Then a burst through midfield saw them win a free-kick outside the area. A deflection off the wall wrong-footed our keeper to even the scores.

Overall it was another point gained in our battle at the bottom, and as we've mentioned for a while we're a team that doesn't concede many. But even though the goal against us was unfortunate and came with only 5 minutes left, a draw was a fair result.
