Decisions, decisions.....

We travelled across the country without a goalkeeper - thanks to left back Baz for volunteering to go in - but before that had two players who failed to show without any notice [a first for me in many, many years of football]. So off to Carlisle with 11 fit players plus a physio [signed on as player for the day] and an injured player. Not the best preparation and thanks to those who let us down :x .

So we went into the game on a bit of a low but played particularly well, going 1-0 up thanks to super poacher Sam Moore and looked comfortable against our hosts predictable tactics. We created a number of chances, had one kicked of the line then a handball by a defender in our opponents penalty area - ref blew straight away then decided to award a free kick against us  for something. Poor decision.

Just before the break Northbank equalised, we switched off and their striker scored at the back post. A bit of a travesty as we controlled the half but these things happen. For some reason we changed our formation playing straight into the hands of our hosts [really poor decision] and before we knew it had conceded three quick goals in the second period and the game was lost. Really felt for the 11 who made the journey, that last 30 minutes must have been purgatory, chasing shadows as we once again made our opponents look like worldbeaters. There was even time for a penalty against us [another poor decision] and to rub salt into the wounds two ridiculous goals [one going wide, hit a striker on the shoulder and bounced in; one a great tackle by Snowy hitting the striker and looping over Baz] as things went completely bizarre.

We will have some players back for next week's game but we need some new blood in quickly.

Never ever understood players who moan and find crap excuses for not travelling to Carlisle - for a Gateshead club I always thought it's actually easier to get to than trips to Blyth, Ashington, and in the past Wark, Otterburn etc.

Plus the pitches are normally in excellent condition, some of the best in the league.
