The club was saddened to hear the news of the sudden and unexpected death of Steve 'Arma' Armstrong last week. A club trustee who this season was coaching the senior men's reserve side, Arma represented the club almost 400 times between 1990 and 2003 and still turned out regularly for our 'Ancients' side.

At 49 years of age he was taken from us too early and his passing will leave a massive hole at Rutherford AFC.

A loyal 'one club' servant, Arma's passing has left many devastated and he will be sorely missed.

Steve's funeral will take place at Saltwell Crematorium, Gateshead at 2.30pm on Wednesday 30th January 2013. Afterwards at the Rutherford AFC clubhouse.

A book of condolence has been opened at Rutherford AFC.
