Bad day at the office.
We made a number of changes and really never competed with a better, well drilled and physically stronger Runcorn.
We went a goal down after 14 minutes having given away a needless free kick out on the right which was swung in and nodded in by one of their good few giants.

We then gave away a penalty but Greg dived to his right to make a great save.

Incredibly and against the odds we equalised just before half time, a long throw was only half cleared and Tom controlled it on his chest before volleying home.

We had barely regained our seats at the start of the second period when the Runcorn right winger got to the by-line and his cross found the net off a Road defender.

Not long after it was 3 when a shot from the edge of the area proved too difficult to hold and bobbled into the net.

We had a couple of chances to pull one back but they rounded off their win when Ryan, who had come on to allow Greg to move up front, air kicked a back pass and it hit the post before being slotted home.

They thoroughly deserved their win and we will certainly need to show a bit more enthusiasm on Monday to avoid another defeat.

Thought Brocky and Josh G were the pick of the bunch today.

Cheers "56" S.A.B
Been out of the circuit this week, only back this afternoon.
I thought this would be a toughie, Town are pushing for promotion, they have won, so good luck to them in their quest.

Roll on Monday and hopfully we can recover to show Glossop that our league position is in my opinion, undeserved. (Yet again tho, I would be biased, being a MRFC supporter)

08/04/2012 - A Game Too Far For Depleted Road

Having gone four games undefeated, Road travelled to League Leaders Runcorn Town yesterday and after a decent first 45 minutes, rather ran out of steam and were beaten 4-1. It was a much changed team and Road were further depleted when Connor Hughes was injured in the warm-up. Tom Bentham equalised in the first half and Road had been enterprising enough to be level. However, two goals early into the second-half knocked the stuffing out of Road. The final Town goal in the 89th minute was a tad cruel on Road, but they could have no complaints about coming away from The Pavilions pointless.
