Off to Squires Gate this weekend.
Lets hope they leave them open and we can get a few goals on the score sheet to get over the doom and drama of the fiasco last week.

Been a very long time since I read a report like last weeks, hoping it will be a very long time before DJM has to pen a similar one.

Squires Gate are not doing too well and will be hoping to put a few points in the bag as they try to get out of the relegation vacum. Might make for a good game this one.

27/01/2012 - Road Hoping To End Month As They Started It.

Maine Road FC started the New Year with a fine 2-1 home win, but the remainder of January has not been so positve. Two postponements and two defeats have stalled progress. However in the space of three days, Road travel to Squires Gate (tomorrow) and then host Stone Dominoes (8.00pm kick-off) and they will be hoping to get some points on the board to continue the push to get into the top half of the Division.

Squires Gate have had a mixed month. They pulled of an excellent home win against high flying Ramsbottom and were described by their opposition as 'the best footballing side' they had played this season. On the other hand, Gate went to Runcorn Linnets last Saturday and in front of the highest crowd of the day (275) blew a 2-0 half-time lead and went down 3-2.

It has the makings of a good game. If you can't travel for this fixture, then do please try and get down to Brantingham Road for Monday night's fixture

It was a 'good in parts' game.

0-1 down. 2-1 up, 2-2, 3-2 up with minutes left. Conceded 3rd goal in 7th or 8th minute of added time....pretty careless really. Positives were some neat moves that suggest we are getting back to old selves. Liam Beckford did particularly well (apart from an atrocious corner that indirectly led to their first goal). Good to see Tom Bentham back. Rory was tenacious.

Quite a bit of added time was for a Gate player who cracked his head open when colliding with the perimeter railings. it looked awful at first and he went away in an ambulance, but was looking better by the time he left. Hope he is o.k. I think it was Zac Thomas.
