There is a problem. There is currently no gas supply to the clubhouse and therefore no heating or showers. The gas suppliers promised to rectify the matter today, but nothing happened. We would hope to know by around mid-day as to whether the game will go ahead.Keep looking on here and the web-site home page.

Do league rules state there has to be shower facilities on-site? Can see how it would be an inconvenience, but bit surprised it could cause a postponement.

Anyway, i guess these things happen. We'll have to get used to it this time of year, remember last season it seemed like every home game around this time was getting called off for one reason or another.

If it doesn't go ahead i might pop down to the City/United reserves derby, or at worst settle for a CSKA humbling of Salford on their own patch!

I think there are such rules, but sometimes a commonsense approach is taken. If it was late spring/early summer and the pitches were dry and if the opposition agree, then the game would probably go ahead. We have to inform the league either way.

Expect to hear soon.

Looks like we are in business! Got this from Saints message board:-

"Game on!!!!

Maine Road have sorted the problem with the showers (or at least have a contingency plan) and apparently the pitch is also fine!!

John"

Chairman.

......and as I write Derek confirms that St Helens at least, will use the adjoining St Bede's changing rooms. Good thinking! See everyone there!

Won 5-0.

Team: Jones, Jay, Robinson, Mason, Gittings (McGregor), Struminskij, Cheetham, Brocklehurt, Beckford, Hibbert (Adams), Crookes (Clynes)

Goalscorers were, i think, though i suspect i may be wrong, Beckford, Beckford, Hibbert, Brocklehurst, Beckford. Third and fourth especially good strikes, one after a slick passing move down the right, and the fourth Brockie from distance.

Good performance, thought Josh, Brockie, Liam, and in the second-half Matt played particularly well, though it was an excellent team effort, and great result considering we were missing Gresty, Danny Self, and of course the recent departures.

Excellent.

Of course, typically, I couldn't make it tonight.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Great to see the Road bagging a few goals, and also keeping a clean sheet in the process!! No MoM for me cos the whole team played well and showed what they ARE CAPABLE OF. Having said that I can only assume that St Helens were without a few players because this was not the performance of a top 10 side and certainly not one that i had expected!! If I'm being honest, looking at them as they lined up they seemed quite a bit less robust looking than ANY of the teams we have encountered this season.Indeed it pleases me to be able to say that we were too powerful for them.Nelson Sat good luck lads dont think i'll make it cos working
