I've been interested to notice over the years with players coming and going from Maine Road that familiar faces seem to two and throw in and out of the club. Prime examples Neil Chappell and Chris Smith. Two very good players, now obviously the club accept this as they are a great addition to any squad in the north west counties but i always wondered, as a follower of Maine Road, what the other longstanding players think of this? Now from reading a few posts I see there are a few current players on the forums, can you guys shed some light on to how the players view this? And also the return of Ian Walker as manager?

Another point how is Rob Brocklehurst doing down there? Hes had a few clubs around these leagues but seems to have found his feet down at Maine Road?
Heard a couple of rumour with other players aswell... Neil Chappell to Glossop? Sam Haggis to Trafford? And Luke Mack to Droyslden?

Good luck for the season guys.

as yo well know i play for maine road and this will be my 7th season. just o answer a couple of yor question..........

we are all very happy ian is back in charge he took us to great heights two years ago and unfortunately left last year to familt commitments. everyone respects him at the club and everyone listen to what he has to say so on that point his is not a problem he was a great player i was lucky/unlucky lol to play with him we will be fine with him in charge believe you me.

it doesnt look like chris smith is coming back atall now.

asfor players leaving and coming back........... you cant really blme neil he has been at the club just as long as i have and when he was offered money to play he took it no one hs harsh feelings about him coming back he strengthens our team and will help us do better im sure so as long as were doing well no arguments from anyone.
i can assure yo he is commited because as you say there is intrest from other club as you mentioned and he was offered a lot of money to go he tells me but he has said he is staying here and helping us all do well so thats good enough for me.

as for brocky tremendous player enuf said
any way roll on tomorrow and a fantastic season eh!

Excellent news (again), Steve. I popped down briefly to Brantingham Road and called in for a few minutes at training. The camaraderie appeared fabulous. Nobody (See the 'Top Five' prediction thread that Steve started on the NWCFL main forum) seems to think we'll be challenging the top five, but it really is a case of 'you never know'. What I do know, is this squad can play an excellent brand of football and most games should have a high entertainment value.

I didn't dismiss you, but you're right. I didn't count you in due to vested interests!

I think if you trawl through those posts there are about 13 predictions and you're the only one who gives us a prayer. I suppose that is logical on the info' available to most, but I have a feeling this is going to be a good season. To make top 5 would be pushing it, but on paper we do look as strong as the 2007/08 side and they didn't do too bad, did they!
