I remember the day when football was a mans game. Crunching tackles, rolled up paper back book for shin pads ( if you wore them),at each others throats during the match THEN a gallon of beer afterwards together. Now its getting to be a non-contact sport. Slide tackles, deemed dangerous, rolling around screaming (creeping into sunday football)after a hard challenge, tape the same colour as the socks!! Whats that all about? Refs are governed by the old farts at the FA to what is and isnt allowed when in my opinion they should be left to make their own decisions on incidents. Lads on here who played 20 years ago must be wondering if they would ever see a game out never mind a season with the way the rules have been changed over the years. Either suspended constantly or simply not being able to afford the petty fines thrown about now. Rolling subs? Yes for youth teams so every kid gets a run out but Adults? I played with, against or even watched some lads who played the game hard but fair ( in most cases) that must scratch their heads sometimes watching it today, lads who tackled like steamrollers but could also knock the ball around, likes of Reggie Pearson,Barry Fleming,Fishy 1 and Fishy 2, Alan Steele, Shaun Marriott, Norman Laws etc. Whats next?

100% agree the game is being changed so much with silly rules.

I've no doubt we will carry on playing it but its like life itself Health and saftey gone mad.

The most annoying thing for me in local football is a lot of young players coming through seem to be more bothered about how they look when playing the game and they just don't seem to be bothered who they let down be it through the night befores drink or just dropping a manager in it to play elsewere.

I loved a drink but never did I not turn up to play because of a hangover.

Sunday football was about playing with ya mates then into the pub for a sunday afternoon on the drink and abit craik.

And don't get me started on these new tape rules.
