Clubs have been informed through the DDSL via Durham FA that we must inform the FA of any friendlies taking place for insurance purposes.....ok Im fine with that..

BUT..seen as we havent paid any insurance for the coming season I cant see how any players can be covered. I dont know of any insurance company that will pay out when they havent been paid. I cant see last seasons insurance covering 2012/13 games??

Just to add something else, weve got a player who has been training with us pre-season and looks a decent player and the only way to get a good look at him is in a friendly BUT he never played for anyone at all last season and therefore definately has no insurance in place! What if he got injured or injured someone else???

Interested to know this myself as I've always wondered about the insurance of players during preseason.
The letter to DFA I think is more your Public Liability cover which you do have if your club is affiliated for next season, maybe this letter also covers any of your players for insurance during the preseason games that you've let DFA know about.

Still a good point made and one I think CT may come on here and clarify.

i was always under the impression thats why friendlies were not allowed to be played until 2 weeks before the season started unless authorised by the fa unnless of course you had your own insurance aswell but has the opposition?I maybe totally wrong but someone will clarify what is and isnt
