Graham Lilley has put full details of the 35max registered players rule on the newsfeed on the DDSL website, worth a read.

I dont know to be honest, we have a very small but reliable squad, obviously injuries can hit any club but in the years ive played we only used up to 20 lads, we dont bring players in from other leagues either.

sounds to me like an attempt to hit hetton but will just make it harder for every team IMO. no advantage to clubs at all, and will be a pain in the back side for admin.

Totally agree, barring Hetton and Maybe Kelloe theres very few clubs sign anywhere near 35 players on anyway so this rule just seems a bit sackless!!!

I know it's an if but. What if you have got your 35. Then someone has an engagement party or something and a big fall out happens and everyone apart from about 8 players decide they are never playing for the club again. That would weird the job up wouldn't it. Cos the fill ins they can get are not allowed to sign on.

Would be interesting to see what reasons were behind this new rule being put forward to the league. I can't see any positives in it at all really.

It was just proposed by Pelton and 2nd by Brandon and there was a vote I just dont see the affect as its this league so hetton for example can still sign on in other competitions etc as many as they want and cant believe everyone they signed on last season there best players played in this league no disrespect to them and i may be wrong but bigger fish to catch .
What it will do is hurt the smaller teams who sign people on just to make sure they have players then find after 1 game tthey dont play no more they may need to be careful but how many teams have 35 signed on I dont know but at a guess I would say less than %5

Correct me if i am wrong but did Pelton not want a max of 35 players registered at one time for the club, so in the event of players being transfered out,the team could replace them to make the 35 number up? Did the League put into place the 35 and thats it,no additions when lads leave, injured, fall out? Everyone knows that players move around regular and even decide to stop playing sundays to concentrate on saturday football so teams will struggle to field teams during a season, as Kelloe and to a lesser extent Hetton, proved last season. More sensible solution would have been to insist that at no time, could clubs have more than 35 players registered, therefore allowing players to leave or be transfered in/out without exceeding the 35 limit. As Net Park says, they had 40 odd players but struggled to get a team out some weeks. Maybe we will start to see games with 7 playing 8 this season which will devalue the League if there is no adjustment to the ruling.

This issue about de-registering players seems to have everyone a little confused. I spoke with the DFA this morning about a different subject but brought this up, not to be nosey but just to see where we stand in case it does affect us in future. John Topping has kindly made enquiries to the English FA itself and he asked me to call back tomorrow morning to see what they say. I'll provide an update when I hear anything back.

Well bearing in mind in the premier league the clubs work with a 25 man squad but when signings are made players can be de-registered from squad and the signed player added. Simple

WHY should the Clubs have to de-register players etc etc, its just more admin and hassle for the League, Durham FA and the Club Secretary.
I think the penny has now dropped to most people involved with DDSL that this rule should be revoted for at the next league meeting now that everyone is aware that it's totally pointless

This is how I always thought it worked but it seems from what people have said, that you cant de-register a player. Even players who transfer out of the club cant be de-registered from your list of players apparently. They may be "de-registered" locally within the league itself, as a player obviously cant be registered with two clubs in one league, but I think its a question of whether the DFA do this as well. I dont know its actually a bit confusing, hopefully Mr Topping can clear it up so we all know for definite one way or the other.

It could only be changed at an AGM.
Was this rule not explained at the AGM, people have had their vote and cast them.

craig in the premier league once you name the 25, you can not change that , only if the fa allow it under extreme conditions , ie 2 out of 3 keepers have long term injuries. i think you name 25 at start, then at xmas you resubmit 25.
