I have officiated in two sunday league level games one last night and one tonight. I was quite suprised or maybe not suprised to find out that out of the four teams that participated it seemed that no one in the sides were familiar with the new drop ball laws. Has anyone found this aswell. Some had heard about the tape on the socks but is this essential at Sunday league level or will it have to be carried out, I guess if your getting assessed it would matter.

A goal can no longer be scored directly from a dropped ball.

You are joking though mate?

If true this has got to be the most stupid rule yet, thought undershorts being the same colour as shorts was bad but this is mad.

Really what is the point in this?

What league do you ref in if you don't mind me asking?

If this rule is taken the same way as the under garments rule then from last season in the DDSL there was only one ref that enforced it all season.

I heard about all these from a ref last year.

I hear also if the ref has stopped play for a reason and a team gives a ball back but for instance goes over the keepers head or the team take the pi ss and score then a goal kick will be given. Or if the defender gives it back to his own keeper and goes in then a corner is given.

Not sure if they got passed though. I also think its a good rule if it was passed.

He is right about the new rule about tape.
If a player uses tape around socks etc it must match the main colour of the strip. If not it must not be used. If the player refuses then that player is not allowed to entre the field of play
