Thornaby started well and took an early lead when a good run and cross from Richie Walker was turned in from close range by Charlie Teasdale , but soon afterwards a corner was not delt with properly and the ball was forced home by Luke Wilson , the home side came more into the game and took the lead just before the interval with a free kick that debutant Nick Farrell had no chance .The referee didnt help by some inconsistent decisions and a obvious hand ball for the visitors turned down BIRTLEY 2 THORNABY 1 HT
The second period saw little of the visitors attacking and two further goals mid way through the second half by John Martin and Craig Marron with Thornaby tiring sealed the points with Rob Pearson hitting the home post towards the end in an dissapointing display from Thornaby with several players under performing again , the return of Neil Wilkinson being a bright spot and Gary Mitchell once again worked hard . FT BIRTLEY 4 THORNABY 1

THORNABY FARRELL WOODS DOUGALL WILKINSON PEARSON HODGSON KEENAN TEASDALE MITCHELL WALKER MORRISON

MOM WILKINSON
