The home side started well and took the game to the visitors who were hemmed into their own half , an dangerous tackle on 10 minutes by a Seaham defender could easily have lead to a red card but the referee used Yellow , much of the play was in the visitors half with little for Briggs to do, the Thornaby attack however failed to pierce the Seaham defence and on a rare attack Seaham were awarded an corner and Carlton Mcabe headed into his own goal HT 0-1
The second period followed the same pattern with little seen of the visitors apart from long balls , the best chance to equalise came to debutant Karl Lilley but his shot was saved by the keepers feet , then another corner wasnt cleared and Seaham with their third shot scored again, the home attack changed to three but they couldnt reduce the arrears in a game that should have been won early on, the same Seaham player committed another bad foul on Morrison but the referee took no action , a disappointing result but Seaham defended well and ground out a result on an minimum of chances
