Full time score Thornaby FC 1-2 Scarborough Town Pre Season friendly

Thornaby welcomed Scarborough Town of the Humber League in which was our last friendly before the season starts next saturday. Thornaby had the first chance of the match when Carlton Mc Cabe fired a shot just wide and the hosts had the next chance when Steve Hodgson headed a shot towards goal which was cleared off the line by a Scarborough defender. Scarborough had their first chance when an effort just flew over the bar. Scarborough then took the lead when Lumpley scored from a angle which past Marc Briggs in the Teessiders goal with 37 minutes gone. Thornaby deservidly levelled on the stroke of half time when Gary Mitchell struck home after a ball by Rob Kennan .

Half Time Thornaby FC 1-1 Scarborough Town

The Teessiders then had first chance in the second half when Indy Sanga was one on one with the keeper and he forced Rob Clark to make a decent save. Scarborough then took the when Lumply slotted past Briggs for his second goal of the match with 50 minutes gone . Boro then had the next chance when Ricky Greening pounced on a defensive mistake and hit a shot forcing Briggs to make a fantastic save. Several chances went begging with Sangha miskicking in front of goal and the hosts then had the final chance of the match when Gary Mitchell went for a overhead kick and the efffort just went wide. A good run out for both sides

Well i was really impressed with the way we kept the ball in the first and to be honest we could have been two or three up but credit to Scarborough as they were the better side in the second half. Good luck to everyone involved with Scarborough Town. I am not at the game on saturday as go on holiday on Thursday so good luck guys i will still be checking the results. Come on Thornaby!

Thanks for the superb hospitality, we really enjoyed our visit to Teesdale Park. You should have been a couple of goals ahead by half time, but Town created most of the second half chances and I suppose a draw would have been a fair result.

Good luck for the coming season, best wishes fom Scarborough Town.
