Shame this game clashes with synners attractive fixture against boro. I noticed norton have not registered any players yet. Interesting to see how norton perform this season. Losing burton gott and huggins wont have helped.

Full time score Norton 2-1 Thornaby Norton took the lead against the run of play when Able pounced on a mistake in the Thornaby defence and went past Briggs and slotted home Norton 1-0 Thornaby FC Thornaby then levelled in a even second half when Charlie Raby hit a shot in the corner with the keeper having no chance. Norton then scored the winner from a corner when the Thornaby defence switched off. Well i am overall pleased as i thought we didnt do much wrong tonight.

I have to more or less agree with you Matty. We didn't do too much wrong, other than not threaten their goal too often....but that'll come. I was particularly impressed with some of the quality being shown by some of the young guys I've not had the pleasure of seeing before. The little No 8 on the left wing, the kid that played at left back (the number 16) and the big Number 4 at the heart of the defence all struck me as having particularly good games. add to that the quality that we know we have in guys like Graeme Baverstock, who did well when he came on in the second half, Lewis Hopson, who had a very good game tonight and a few who were absent tonight like Hodgy, Wilker.Thornsy and Alex Dougal, and we've got the nucleus of a very decent team there.

Having watched that game tonight....against first division opposition lets not forget....I'm looking forward immensely to the new season.

good run out against an Norton side containing several established first division players
BRIGGS PEARSON MORTON MORRIS CAMPBELL LIAM WOODHOUSE MCABE MURPHY MARTYN WOODHOUSE MITCHELL BRIDGE

SUBS TEASDALE BAVERSTOCK RABY KIDSON OROURKE

First half very even with Thornaby having a few half chances and Abel shooting wide from a good position , the young midfielders for Thornaby matched the more experienced Wells and Harbron , a back pass by pearson was seized on by Abel to score first goal, the equaliser was well worked in the second half with sub Charlie Raby scoring from close range , near the end a cross was headed home for the Norton winner but overall an great run out for the Blues , best wishes to NSA

I was there watching the game as a neutral and thought it was a really enjoyable game. Thornaby settled down after the first 10 – 15 minutes and played some decent stuff. Like the earlier posts, I was really impressed with the number 4 (Muzzi or Mazzi I think he was called – looked like Bill Pullman). He was big, strong, had pace and breezed through 90 minutes. I’ve seen him play a few times for the BEADS and each time he was Man of the Match. You have a real gem if you can keep hold of him, although I did over hear a few of the Norton fans saying they wouldn’t mind seeing him in their team.
