THORNABY 1 HEBBURN 2
A proper smash and grab raid by Hebburn 1-0 to Thornaby at half time Paul Thorns headed goal 7 mins after a ball by Darren Morton into box , the home side should have been 2-0 up after miss in front of goal by Marcus Laing and a few good efforts that the visitors keeper saved
HT THORNABY 1 HEBBURN 0 , fair play to Hebburn in later part of second half gambled 3/4/3 and pushed central defender up and got two goals late in game and took points when it didnt look that way at half time, probably best Thornaby have played in the first period all season very encouraging against a team promoted . THORNABY
Marc BRIGGS Mark LILLEY Lee FARRINGTON Steve HODGSON Darren MORTON Danny LOFTS Ian CLARK Paul THORNS Gary MITCHELL Martin ORIORDAN
Marcus LAING
SUBS
Neil WILKINSON FOR LOFTS
Dave TURNER FOR ORIORDAN
Steve NEWHAM FOR THORNS
Ian Bishop
Charlie Raby
MOM GARY MITCHELL

Here's the Shields Gazette match report from Saturday (if I missed quite a bit out it was because there was a set number of words for the print column):

Quite a first half performance from Thornaby - played like you were fourth top for the opening 45 minutes. Onwards and upwards for you I hope.

I thought that we were the better team in the first half but Hebburn were the better team in the second half but i thought that it was harsh to get beat a draw was at least deserved we have to take our chances when we get them all the best to Hebburn.
