Full Time Score Thornaby FC 1-3 Billingham Synthonia (EA Memorial Cup 2nd Round)

Thornaby welcomed Local Rivals Billingham Synthonia to Teesdale Park for the second time this Season with Billingham Synthonia winning 8-0 last time out. Thornaby made 1 change with Daniel Bowman replacing Liam Gibbs in goal.

The match started with both teams to cancel each other out and it took a while for the first chance to come and it was the visitors who did have the first chance when Macaulay Langstaff was played in and he fired his effort wide from 9 yards out and it was the visitors who then had the following effort when Matthew Robinson's cross from the left found Conor Winter who headed over the bar. Thornaby had there first attempt on goal when Gary Mitchell's effort from outside the box rolled into the hands off Craggs. The home side then had the following effort when James Rowe's cross from the right found Gary Mitchell who headed wide from 8 yards out.

Half Time Score Thornaby FC 0-0 Billingham Synthonia

Billingham Synthonia took the lead when a Matthew Robinson corner from the left found the head off Conor Winter and it then found LIAM O'SULLIVAN who tapped home with 50 minutes gone. The visitors made it 2-0 3 minutes later when Matthew Robinson's corner this time was headed out to CHAY LIDDLE who volleyed home from the edge of the box. Thornaby had the following effort when Michael Joseph's pass found Lewis Green on the left and his cross found Gary Mitchell who seen his effort blocked by Guy Craggs. Synners made it 3-0 when Matthew Robinson wonderful ball across the box found CONOR WINTER who fired home past Bowman with 64 minutes gone. Thornaby made 2 subs with Kurtis Howes and Craig Skelton returning to Thornaby's Squad. Synthonia almost made it 4 but Sub Nathan Steel hit his effort straight at Bowman in the home goal. Thornaby pulled a goal back when Craig Skelton's deflected cross found the head Off KURTIS HOWES who headed home for his first ever goal for Thornaby with 89 minutes gone.

Man of the Match:Taylor Crainey

Good performance first half by us but we had a spell where switched off in the second half but once again can't fault the lads effort.

We are becoming a good side who are working for each other and getting results.
