EASINGTON COLLIERY 4 V THORNABY 2
Goals from Reece Kenney 2 Jack Stanger and David Stevens saw Thornaby lose 4-2 at Easington with an early goal from Matty Robinson and an equaliser just before half time by Jackson half time 2-2 the second period saw Easington win 4-2 and could have been more but for saves from Gibbs
MOM Louis Johnson never stopped running and a good prospect
MARK HARKIN CARETAKER MANAGER comments
With a squad already short of 3 regulars due to injury and work commitments and the loss of 2 key defenders in literally the hour before kick off, it was hardly the best of starts to Nathan Porritt and my first game in sole charge at Thornaby

This obviously forced changes on our initial team set up but our first team talk concentrated on having a playing strategy and shape whilst still looking to play football.

The team carried out everything we asked in the first half and those that watched the game would have seen a Thornaby team play a tactical game which denied the opposition the chance to play much football and we were rewarded with a very well worked first goal. This was almost immediately cancelled out by poor play resulting in first the Easington equaliser and then a further goal to take the lead when the ball could easily have been dealt with by the defence and then the goalkeeper.

Nevertheless, the team continued to play good football and deservedly equalised and could have scored again before half time on several occasions.

The second half with further injuries and poor decision making unfortunately saw the return to old ways and we were beaten 4.2 and in truth it could have been a heavier defeat by the end.

Nathan and I had plenty of positives to take from game and look to develop the team further however mistakes costs goals and yesterday our mistakes contributed to all four goals which is something we obviously need to work on.
