BLYTH TOWN V THORNABY SATURDAY 27TH AUGUST 3PMKO The blues travel to newly promoted Blyth town with keeper Michael Duff returning to the squad , and new signing Darren Clarke signed from Army football included , Lee Bythway is missing due to work commitments with the police The Tall ships event is in bLYTH SO SUPPORTERS ARE ADVISED TO GIVE PLENTY TIME TO GET TO THE GROUND

Fantastic 2-1 win away against a decent Blyth Town side been a decent start to the season :D

Tough match next Saturday away against Easington looking forward to it.

Thornaby visited Blyth town for the first time and were under immediate pressure when Gary Day challenged for an through ball with visiting keeper Michael Duff after two minutes which ended with Duff being injured . He continued but afer 5 minutes an long free kick into the box was headed home past Duff by Lee Middleton to open the scoring for Blyth who were on top.
On 15 minutes Dale Henderson was through with an open goal but missed the target which could have increased the home sides lead . After 17 minutes youngster Liam Gibbs replaced the injured Duff .
After 23 minutes the end to end game saw an cross from the right layed off by Sam England for ex Newcastle Utd youngster Louis Johnson to coolly stroke the ball home from the middle of the area past Scott Earle to level the score .
On 26 minutes an ball into the box was flicked on by Michael Joseph for Matthew Robinson to fire the ball past Earle from close range to make it 2-1 to Thornaby

The second half saw Sam England replaced due to injury by Gary Mitchell who started bringing other players into the game and Thornaby were defending well
Liam Gibbs made an series of fine saves on 55 minutes from Middleton then Gary Day.
This was followed by an great run and shot from Louis Johnson which went wide of the home goal. And could have been 3 -1 The home side threw everything forward and on 75 mins Gibbs saved one on one from Dale Pearson then Matty Tumilty had an effort saved . Thornaby introduced youngster Ben Jackson who had several good runs to frustrate Blyth and with seconds left
Gary Mitchell had an open goal but lifted the ball over , an great away win with
Sub keeper Liam Gibbs making several outstanding saves and Thornaby battling as a team for three points against an strong Blyth town .
