Thornaby travelled to North Shields with the visitors looking to get back to winning ways. Thornaby took the lead with 5 minutes gone after good work by Michael Joseph and he seen Sean Mc Cafferty off his line and shot home from 25 yards and the visitors scored again with 15 minutes gone after a good ball upfield by Matthew Ramage with Anthony Stephens putting pressure on the Shields keeper and the keeper headed the ball to Gary Mitchell who took his time to score from about the same distance as the first goal with the keeper again having no chance. The visitors then had the next chance when Michael Joseph volleyed wide with his left foot. North Shields pulled a goal back just before half time when John Grey was given time to shoot past Adam Green.

North Shields had the first chance in the second half when Keith Douglas fired wide. The home side then had the following chance after a through ball to Robert Nolan and his effort was well saved by Adam Green in the blue's goal and from the resulting corner Adam Green spilt the ball and there was a scramble in the box with Paul Edwards clearing off the line. The home side then put some pressure on the visitors goal with Michael Mc Mahon fired wide. Thornaby then had the following chance after good work by Chris Burton and his effort just went wide and the blue's then had two chances with Michael Joseph once again tried to chip Sean Mc Cafferty with the keeper making a good save and from the resulting corner Jamie Dewing's effort just went wide. North Shields had the next chance which Joe Elliot fired over the bar. Thornaby had Matthew Ramage sent off for two bookable offences right on full time.
