First of all, PHEW! Would have been very gutting to have seen such momentum slip away due to a poor 30 minutes. Secondly, the undefeated streak continues, just! Mainly, great character and resolve to recover from the calamity of the first half and secure something from the fixture. Bootle were disappointing, but so were Ramsbottom in my view. I saw them play in a game earlier in the season and they didn't look like the team that played today. Effective if not stylish is how I would describe their style today, big strong players very effective at bullying their opposition, especially with a referee who was massively inconsistent and failed to apply several laws. He wasn't favourable to one team or another though which is something as inconsistent referee's often do. High profile fixture and he didn't look at all up to the job.

Was the draw deserved? Erm....I'm struggling to come down on either side of the fence on that one. Bootle seemed the more interested in playing football whilst Ramsbottom United seemed more intent on bullying, but the football Bootle produced was far below their normal standard. Everyone who was there will make up their own minds, I'm struggling to decide if it was a fair result. Fair result or not though, with Barnoldswick Town defeating Maine Road 1-2 at the same time, that Lee Thompson goal keeps Bootle first and relegates Ramsbottom down to third and keeps the title race very much alive and exciting. Though it would probably take a foolish man to look past Barnoldswick Town for the title at this stage.

Yes they did because they played right until the end. Thought Ramsbottom were a little disappointing as were Bootle. Maybe a case of two well matched teams stopping each other from playing. Ramsbottom's back four were strong and at times looked like they were playing rugby league with the pushing and holding but, they played the ref and got away with it. Neither goalkeeper really called into action and neither team really created anything or had a period of consistent pressure so a draw a fair result. Rammy will be the more disappointed being 2 - 0 up but a draw may not have been enough for Bootle. either way, with Barlick winning a result that is not ideal for either team. My honest opinion and if it upsets any Rammy fans then my apologies.

Actually, to that end, I've just seen the first Ramsbottom goal again on the video, strong case that it should probably have been disallowed. Lee Gaskell has properly used Neil McQueen as a ladder to get his head on the ball. But then again the referee let 90% of those infringements go throughout the game, the fault lies with him rather than Gaskell there.

They looked too good for us in that first half hour. I imagine that was an immediate reaction to their loss the other day at Runcorn, as they seemed to peter out towards the break and especially in the second half. Their first looked like climbing, without doubt. For us, we weren't winning a header all day against their two big lads at the back til Foley came on, his introduction was the turning point.

I was expecting a sending off for Ramsbottom at some point, there was certainly a few candidates. I dont really want to criticize the ref though, at this level as they must get a dogs life.

The Dodge definitely sucked that second in.

I reckon a draw was just about right.

Ramsbottom looked like they were going to run riot after 15 minutes.

The second half witnessed a very determined fightback from Bootle. They seemed to calm down a bit and this enabled them to play more structured football (must have been a worthwhile team-talk during the break).

The visitors seemed confident about playing deeper and sitting on the 2 goal cushion (a mistake).

Bootle never gave up the chase and got a fair reward for their efforts.
