I've sent the following to Ian Templeman at the Vodkat League for inclusion on their website and will be posting it in a number of other places.
It's a bit wordy but please get in touch if you need any further information and/or clarification.
Thanks
Ian
Bootle F.C.: Moving Forward - Social Enterprise DevelopmentWe are planning the further development of Bootle FC as a fully-fledged
(not-for-profit) Social Enterprise and are currently constructing role outlines for a number of key positions (Executive/Board & Match Day) within the future Club structure. Role outlines for the more formal positions outlines below will be available by the end of February and we are hoping to have the new structure in place by the end of this year.
A lot of initial work has already taken place, and we are continuing to develop the systems that will ensure a smooth transfer from what is currently an ‘Unincorporated Association’ into a full blown Social & Community Enterprise.
Please don’t think that you need explicit previous experience in any of these areas; we’re also looking for people who have the transferrable skills and enthusiasm required to develop into these roles. Support and development will be readily available to you – and that’s a promise!
So, if you fancy joining a vibrant Football Club that has forward thinking teams both on and off the pitch, please get in touch for a chat.
The following 4 provisional Board Level roles have been identified but we would welcome enquiries from people who are interested in any particular aspects of these positions:
Social Enterprise Secretary/AdministratorThis is a Senior Administrative role and will include helping us to project-manage the development of the new structure as well as taking on the administrative requirements associated with the staged implementation of the agreed Social Enterprise model
Sales & Marketing LeadThis role will focus on the promotion of the Club as an attractive and viable partner to local businesses and voluntary organizations. However, in the first instance, the priority will be communicating on a regular basis with those organisations and individuals who are already key sponsors of the Club. Obviously, further income-generation via additional sponsorship/merchandising developments would be welcome but the person appointed to this position would not be expected to take sole responsibility for this particular aspect of the role.
Media & Communications LeadThis position will focus on the further development of our relations with both the local Media and promotion of the Club across the wider local communities. In addition, it is envisaged that the person appointed to this role will work closely with a number of other key individuals within the Club structure.
Community Development CoordinatorThis key role will focus on the further development and implementation of our 2-year ‘Community Development Plan’ and the person appointed will work closely with the Current Club & Community Development Lead in this respect.
In addition, we would be very interested to hear from people who would be willing to play a part in the further development of our website and match day programme:
Programme Editor Season 2010/11:We are looking for somebody to take on this important role from next season onwards. The person appointed will have access to a terrific editorial team and there will be absolutely no shortage of materials for inclusion in the publication. In addition, training will be provided on the simple piece of software we have license to use and that ensures our programmes are print-ready. The design and structure of the programme have been successfully developed this season and the Editor will have easy access to everybody at the club in order to generate ideas/content. Again, in the main, this is a co-ordinating role and the person in post will not be expected to do everything!
Website Development and Maintenance Co-ordinator:As with the Programme Editor’s role, this position is key to our continuing development and we have a new website development in mind. Some very basic initial work has already been undertaken but we are looking for somebody who has a couple of hours per week to spare to take the website forward and ensure its continual maintenance. Again, the person appointed will be given considerable support and will be provided with the necessary information on a regular basis.
Match Day Volunteers:Finally, we would welcome enquiries from anybody who is interested in helping the club in a slightly more informal way by offering some assistance to the match day team i.e. Programme Sellers, Kit Man etc…..
If you might be interested in any (or any part) of these roles and would like an informal discussion about them, please contact Ian Porter, in the first instance:
