Fantastic. The start of better things to come! An intriguing game is in prospect tomorrow night. :)

It was a great performance by the 'lads' last night. Well deserved the win and nice of the North Shields managerial team to acknowledge that. (Was talking to them in the club afterwards).

I wont bleat on too much about the negatives - BUT - how on earth the referee did not give Brandon a penalty towards the end of the first half I'll never know.

The Shields 'keeper clatted so heavily into Paul Dixon that he did two somersaults in the air. For some reason the only two people in the ground that did not deem it a penalty were the ref and his assistant.

But, as I say, I wont go into the negatives too much on what was a great night. A good, solid, hard working performance and a win well deserved.

In the Evening Chronicle 20/03/08 Malcolm Pratt wrote "North Shields gave a poor performance at Brandon who won for only the second time in 33 games" dont know if you saw the game Malcolm or have written that line on information received but the fact is that NS did play quite well in patches only for Brandon to play a lot beter than them and gain a well deserved victory. Your write up makes it sound like Brandon were lucky, something that we dont get alot of, well we wern't lucky it was a good performance and could have won by more if the ref had concentrated for 90 minutes.

Malcolm Pratt from the Northern League Press Office / Sunday Sun / Evening Chronicle normally receives his information from someone at the home club (quite often the Secretary) immediately after the match has finished. It is likely that he received this information from someone at North Shields F.C. and they probably had this view of playing badly after losing a game most people thought they would have won (I was not one of these people I might add).

Malcolm and his team do a good job but obviously cannot get to many games due to printing deadlines, they have to rely solely on the information given to them by the home team. Maybe it would be a good idea to speak to people from both clubs or a neutral after each match to get a more balanced view of a game.
